The Board of Selectmen is proud to announce the selection of a Recreation Committee with extensive sports experience and involvement. Their one mission is to provide quality sports programming for the youth in Newport. Members selected all have their own unique sports interest and experiences. The seven member board consists of the following directors: Randy Davis, Kelly Flagg, Eric Stitham, Cheryl Gifford, Jeremy Bragg, Mike Cote, and Kendra Hartsgrove. Our Recreation Director is Adam Noyes who will work with the Committee and will be responsible for the scheduling, purchasing and administrative needs of the committee. Adam was appointed this summer with the swim program being his first official duty. He was also involved in the re-construction of the Newport Tennis Courts and implementation of tennis lessons. We feel the combination of the Recreation Committee and Adam will bring forth quality programming.

The Selectmen recently signed a lease with Bulldog Properties LLC for the property located at 81 Elm Street, the Old Newport Armory. We intend to be fully prepared to commence with fall and winter programming at this facility. The Building will now be known as the home of the Newport Recreation Department. The Town of Newport is committed to providing an organized program within the financial abilities of our tax base. If you have any questions about complete sports programming provided by the Town of Newport, or are interested in participating in some way, please contact Adam Noyes @ 341-3155. For all sports updates please monitor the Town's web site @ click the recreation tab.
