Other NCC NEWS

Two naming gifts were announced by Newport Town Manger James Ricker. "I am pleased to recognize the leadership and generosity of Goodwin Gilman for providing the naming gift for the Sheila Gilman Children's Room, and Greg Lovley for the Lovley Family Circulation Desk." Ricker also thanked the more than 250 contributors to the campaign's "quiet" phase, and the in-kind contributors to date, including Miller Signs & Graphics, St. Albans Stove Shop, Newport Industrial Fabrication, and Brescia Construction. Grants to the capital campaign have been received from the Belvedere Fund of the Maine Community Foundation, the Davis Family Foundation, and the Fisher Charitable Foundation.

The Newport Cultural Center's innovative design blends the collections of the Library with artifacts and objects of the Newport Historical Society exhibit. As patrons enter the building, the experience will be one of being in both a library and a museum.  It will be a comfortable, bright setting reflecting on the rich heritage of this 191 year-old community at the crossroads of Central Maine. Historical artifacts, large and small, will be displayed in protective glass cases both ringing the perimeter of the interior walls and among the media stacks.

Information on contributing to the Newport Cultural Center Capital Campaign is available at the Newport Public Library, Historical Society Museum, and the Town Office. For more information contact the Newport Town Office 207-368-4410 or mailto:info@newportmaine.net.
